Recently I had the opportunity to work on a great series of spots for Mattel Toys. The director, James Wahlberg, and I met over the holidays and discussed the spots and eventually we decided to pitch the idea of doing one large set instead of many smaller sets. The set I built was designed to feel like it was built out of a boy’s imagination while playing with the new Speed Racer toys. It allowed for easy lighting changes and had modular panels to change the overall look depending on which toy we were shooting. The end result was a highly detailed set with loads of graphics and tons of production value. The Mattel clients were very happy with the final product and the Director and DOP had a great time shooting on the set. Thanks to everyone on my team who helped bring another great job together.
